OPPORTUNITIES GALORE...

Before I look back, let me look forward...In a few days I go to Indiana to preach/sing and then I'm off again to HAITI for 10 days with World Renewal Representative Max Wright. What an awesome privilege. Just so you can pray...

- We will stay in the same house with our 25 beautiful children from Christ's Compassion Orphanage (+several adults). Still no running water or electricity.
- We could use your help with some travel expenses/supplies for this trip and the ministry there.
- We have nearly $6000 given for a generator for the mission house. We could use another $4000 to get the proper size.
AS THE LORD LEADS...send a designated gift, with a note indicating Haiti Fund (Frank Penna) so we can get it where it is most needed. WORLD RENEWAL BOX 399 GREENFIELD, INDIANA 46140.

AND LOOKING BACK to 3 WEEKS IN BRAZIL We started June 30 from Wichita with Kenny Smith and Bill Swanson (a first-timer!!)
After some planning to figure out what we can build, we always start with trips to two different lumber yards (above). In between all the construction that goes on, there is plenty of ministry happening (encouraging those who are studying English and hearing what a relationship with Jesus is all about below).

Listening to, praying with and encouraging church planting pastors is always such a pleasure.
S
eems like I spent all my time sanding and painting (and eating some popcorn once in awhile...a pleasant and unexpected surprise!)

Anyone care for a "skirt and blouse?" It is an amazingly delicious popcicle treat. Kenny bought out the store (at about $.12 per).
Like I said... Most all of the shelves and portable units we built last year got a fresh coat of paint.

Now that is a real "miniature" golf course! 9 holes squeezed into a small space, but the only game of it's kind within who knows how many hundreds or thousands of kilometers.

We hosted several seminars on puppets, worship, youth ministries and more.

I sang and preached at a fairly large (and very enthusiastic) Nazarene church one Sun PM. We were there to encourage them in their outreach to a pagan and idolotrous city of 75,000 and only a few hundred Christians.

I asked a young boy who looked like he enjoyed taking pictures to take a few of me and Tele, doing "Zach is the Name" and preaching together. He clicked off about 40 or so! So I paid him a little pocket change after it was over for his very professional services.

My excellent photographer...

Some of what we produced in three weeks.

Kenny and I had to go check up on the kitchen we built in 21 days in July 07. Still looks great, and they are still so thankful. God bless you all who helped us get that important project done.
So many wonderful brothers and sisters in Christ. They always tell us to tell you how welcome you are to join us anytime.

Some of the team we worked with. There were others who came and went during our three weeks, mostly from Indiana. Not only did we build a bunch of custom cabinets for the school and offices, but there were classes, preaching and singing, a miniature golf course and carport installed, three eight hour days of English Camp with dozens of wild kids, and a week of Medical outreach to hundreds of needy persons in several communities. And all in the name of Christ for his glory and the growth of the church.
Below is the Kansas/Texas construction team. Kenny, Bill and I were blessed to have Kenny's son Josh and buddy Shawn join us for the final full week. The perfect end to a blessed time of ministry and growth.

More Smith Custom Woods (Brazil Division) Cabinets...

---------------------------
PAOLA IS HERE...YEA!! A goal we have been working on since January is for Paola Martinez from Mexico City (daughter of Pastors Ramiro and Claudia Martinez) to come to the US for a school year. She is 15 years old, and will be hosted by Jeff, Jodi, Kassie, Kelsey and Kaylie Kinniburgh here in Wichita. Many answers to prayer have made this possible. Pray for her safety, health and that the Lord will be at work in and through her during this time.

And last, but certainly not least....JANET AND I ARE ON A NEW ADVENTURE!!! After 8 years in the mortgage business, she is jobless and we are moving (in with our son, Jesse). It's one of those long stories, but the good news is that we are primed and ready to go forward into whatever the Lord has for us. We have many (unanswered) questions, but are praying daily for new direction and purpose. One possibility is for her to join me in more hands on ministry here in the US. That will be a financial challenge. Please pray with and for us.
