TAKE NOTE...

Make sure you scroll all the way down to the middle of "27 days in October" and read about the need for guitars in Haiti. Your help will be greatly appreciated anytime during the month of October.

The "NY...sorry...School of Evangelism Trip"

Jim Towne (Janet's sister Becky's husband...!) and I grew up Yankee fans, and as young ball players, both saw ourselves playing one day in "the house that Ruth built." Like Jim says, if it wasn't for the fact that we both were too slow, couldn't hit, field or throw all that well, we might have (and should have!!) made it. The best we could do was visit, as we did in early September. We combined several goals with a trip to the Billy Graham School of Evangelism (excellent in every way...and the real centerpiece of our little vacation...at least that's what we told Janet and Becky). BGSE is in Asheville, North Carolina. One blessing for us was scholarship and travel money for the conference. We both enjoyed being with a few of Jim's relatives and watched 2 games in NY (Yankees and Mets), as well as Washington and Baltimore (eventhough there were so many Red Sox fans in attendance we thought we were actually in Boston!).

The only proof I have that I was actually in Yankee Stadium (except for my ticket stub, two souvenir cups and two ice cream helmets). No, that is not a beer in my hand!
The boys of summer...

Two above - My only Times Square photo, and another look at the Capitol Building (Jim and I were there for Promise Keepers about 11 years ago). Every US citizen should have the privilege of being in the Capitol. I highly recommend a visit if you ever have the opportunity.

27 Days in OCTOBER

On October 3rd I leave for Haiti with World Renewal Representative Max Wright where I will participate in a church planting pastors conference, leading worship (in Creole?...English?...who knows!) and speaking once. I will also visit our orphanage and get un update on progress. Thanks to all who made it possible for these precious children to sleep in beds instead of on the floor!
We hope to take two guitars with us for worship leaders, several of whom are in these pictures, helping me learn Creole while I teach them some English. Pray for us. If you want to help purchase guitars, gig bags and strings please contact me (hereinks@yahoo.com) or World Renewal (pkingrey@worldrenewal.org) or just send a contribution to World Renewal PO Box 399 Greenfield, IN 46140. Write a note that says "Haiti Guitars."

After 9 days in Haiti, I go all the way from Gonaives to Port Au Prince, to Miami to Mexico City in one day!! I'll be there for 9 days to participate in leadership and small group training seminars, lead 2 worship seminars myself and preach three times. I will be with my friend Ramiro Martinez who is currently pastoring two church plants, and his brother David, who is also a church planter.

I hope Ramiro takes me again, as he did in July 06 to a favorite street side restaurant on the corner of Nebraska and Chicago in the heart of Mexico City!

After Haiti and Mexico City I will wait (and rest!) in Indiana for three day before I go with Gary Wright on a weekend ministry trip to Byhalia Friends Church (Ohio). If/when God reminds you, please pray for me during the month of October. It is going to be a challenge. I need the Holy Spirit to help me every step of the way. I want to be a blessing wherever I go, and bring encouragement to these pastors and their people.

My Two Favorite Sons

Jesse said it was obvious by recent entries that Julie is the favorite child (as are all of the youngest children in any family, you know!). So, no pictures of girls or grandchildren for awhile. Instead, here's the newlyweds Jacob and Jill at their wedding rehearsal dinner (I promise some newer pictures of them and our "granddog" sometime), and a shot of Jesse during a recent camping trip to Idaho.
